철원 상사리 구석기유적 흑요석의 성분조성 및 산지 연구

국문 초록

철원 상사리 구석기유적에서 출토된 흑요석 6점에 대하여 주사전자현미경(SEM)–에너지분산형분광기(EDS)를 이용한 주요성분과 유도결합플라즈마질량분석기(ICP–MS)로 미량성분을 분석하여 출토된 흑요석간의 상관관계 및 산지를 알아보았다. 분석결과 철원 상사리 유적에서 출토된 흑요석은 크게 두 개의 그룹을 이루고 있어 서로 다른 두 종류의 흑요석들로 이루어져 있으며 산지 또한 다를 수 있음을 보여준다. 우리나라의 대표적인 흑요석 산지인 백두산 흑요석과의 상관관계를 알아본 결과 철원 상사리에서 출토된 흑요석은 백두산과 일부 흑요석이 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타나고 있다. 이는 철원 상사리에서 출토된 흑요석들 중 일부가 백두산에서 유입되었을 가능성을 보여주는 결과이다. 또한 지금까지 발표된 타 구석기유적과 비교해 본 결과 철원 상사리에서 출토된 흑요석들은 타구석기 유적과 상관관계가 거의 없는 것으로 나타나고 있다. 그러나 지금까지 구석기유적에서 출토된 흑요석들의 분석 자료가 많지 않으므로 철원 상사리에서 출토된 흑요석들의 정확한 산지 및 특성을 규명하는 것은 좀 더 많은 연구가 필요할 것으로 본다. 앞으로 이러한 연구를 계속 진행 한다면 구석기 유적지별 상관관계 및 산지를 규명하는데 큰 도움이 될 것으로 본다.

영문 초록

The main composition and trace elements of 6 obsidian flakes from Sangsa-ri Paleolithic site in Cheolwon are analyzed by Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy(SEMEDS) and Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectroscopy(ICP-MS) to figure out the provenance relation. As a result of composition analysis, the obsidian flakes are separated to two groups. It means they are consisted of obsidian flakes to the different type, which proves to have different provenance. We look into the correlation between Korean representative obsidian provenance, Baekdusan(mountain) and obsidian flakes from Sangsa-ri Paleolithic site in Cheolwon. As a result, we could know that partly obsidian flakes from Sangsa-ri Paleolithic site might be come from Baekdusan(mountain). Also there is no correlation among other paleolithic site published. In other words, obsidians of Sangsa-ri Paleolithic site in Cheolwon came into different provenance, the composition of a few obsidian are similar to Baekdusan(mountain). But it is difficult to figure out the provenance relation and characteristic of obsidian flakes from Sangsa-ri Paleolithic site in Cheolwon. Because there are not many data of previous excavated obsidian analysis, more research is needed. If we continue these studies, it could help to figure out the correlation and provenance of the paleolithic sites.
