영문 초록

This paper aims to reveal the inner connotations of Islamphobia, circulated in Korean church and society, 2008-2009. The author wants to present the following implications of the sudden rise of Islamphobia in Korean society: (1) In terms of sociological background, the Korean Islamphobia was triggered by the social pressure upon the fundamental-conservative Christians (2) The inner agendas of the conflicts show that the voice of Islamphobia attacks not the Muslims in Korea directly but the flexible and contextual mission approaches (3) The hostile movement of Islamphobia has been under influence of American-Christian fundamentalism which was increased after 9/11 (4) The Korean Islamphobia is an anachronism and a narrow nationalism at the age of globalization, which is attacking the global weak, i.e., Muslim workers in Korea (5) The sudden Islamization of Korea, like the demographic change in Europe, is not possible (6) The circulations of Islamphobia looks like a spreading pattern of a conspiracy theory and this kind of narrow circulation will hinder other future religious conversations within Korean society. Having reflected upon the problems of Islamphobia, the author suggests a dialogical and serving mission approaches to the Muslim workers in Korean society.
