국문 초록
The purpose of this study is to investigate the notetaking strategies utilized by student interpreters during consecutive interpreting and propose ways to train notetaking skills. Many students increasingly resort to the use of IT gadgets such as tablet, laptop computer and cellphone not to mention chat-GPT and other AI applications, to help them jot down information they hear in the Source Language during interpreting and render the speech into the Target Language. This study questions the usefulness of such strategy with the aim to propose methods for training students in notetaking skills. A survey was conducted to ask students about what they find the most difficult in notetaking. The survey is used to analyze weaknesses students may have in dealing with multitaking. Secondly, the notetakings of students are analyzed along with their interpreting performances in order to search for areas for enhancement. It was revealed that students utilize strategies to help them retain as much information as possible through notetaking. Student performance and notetaking skills showed some correlation.
