국문 초록

본 연구에서는 문헌 고찰을 통해 항만에서 디지털 전환이 지속가능성에 어떻게 기여하는 가에 대해 알아보고, 이를 바탕으로 디지털 전환이 지속가능한 항만 영역과 세부 요소들에 미치는 영향을 AHP분석을 통하여 상대적 중요도로 평가하고자 하였다. 설문 조사 대상은 컨테이너터미널, 항만 공사, 대학교, 연구기관, IT업체 등 5개 집단으로 구성하고 각 분야의 전문가들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 일관성이 확보된 49개의 설문지를 대상으로 항만에서 디지털 전환이 지속가능한 4개 영역(경제, 환경, 사회, 지배구조)과 각 영역별 12개의 세부 요소에 기여하는 바를 상대적 중요도와 우선순위를 도출하였다. 연구 결과, 현재 국내 항만에서 디지털 전환은 경제, 환경, 사회, 지배구조 영역 순으로 지속가능성에 기여를 하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 또한 세부 항목들 중에서는 항만 인프라 구축과 서비스 제공, 공유경제 실현, 순환 경제 실현, 오염제어, 폐기물 관리에 있어서 디지털 전환의 기여도가 높음을 알 수 있다. 본 연구 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 항만에서 기존 업무의 자동화나 디지털화를 넘어서 업무 자체의 본질과 가치 창출 방식의 혁신적 변화를 추진하게 되면, 디지털 전환이 기업의 ESG 목표를 달성하고 지속가능한 비즈니스 관행을 구현하는 데 도움이 될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 둘째, 실무에서 디지털 전환과 지속가능성이 어떤식으로 결합되어 성과를 내고 있는 가를 해당분야의 전문가들의 의견을 취합하여 분석한 점에서 학문적으로 뿐만아니라 실무적으로 시사점을 찾을 수 있다.

영문 초록

This study examined how digital transformation contributes to sustainability in ports through a literature review. We assessed the relative importance of digital transformation across various aspects and sub-elements of sustainable ports using AHP analysis. The survey targeted experts from five groups: container terminals, port authorities, universities, research institutes and IT companies. Based on 49 consistent questionnaires, we identified the relative importance and priorities of digital transformation in four areas of port sustainability: economy, environment, society and governance, along with 12 sub-elements within each area. The results indicate that digital transformation in Korean ports contributes to sustainability in the following order: economy, environment, society and governance. Among these sub-elements, digital transformation significantly enhances port infrastructure development and service provision, facilitates the realization of a sharing economy and a circular economy and improves pollution control and waste management. The implications of this study are twofold. First, we confirmed that digital transformation can help ports achieve corporate ESG goals and implement sustainable business practices by moving beyond mere automation or digitalization of existing tasks to pursue innovative changes in their operations and value creation. Second, by gathering and analyzing expert opinions on the intersection of digital transformation and sustainability, we can derive implications that are both academically significant and practically relevant.
