국문 초록
Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a major dose-limiting adverse effect of cancer therapy. The pathophysiology of CIPN is highly complex and its mechanisms are not yet fully elucidated, making rodent animal models essential tools for mechanistic studies. Notably, as vincristine-induced peripheral neuropathy (VIPN) presents with clinical similarity in humans and companion animals, mechanistic studies using experimental animals can provide key information applicable to both human and veterinary medicine. Therefore, this review examines various protocols for establishing VIPN models in rodents and, furthermore, comprehensively discusses the behavioral, electrophysiological and histological methods commonly applied for the evaluation of CIPN models in general. In conclusion, refining these animal models and strengthening preclinical-to-clinical translational research is crucial for developing effective therapies for both human and animal patients.
