국문 초록
This study analyzes the factors influencing changes in fertility rates in countries with declining population density. Using data from the World Bank, we examined total fertility rates(TFR), population densities(PPD), women's equality indices(WEI), and GDP per capita(GPC) for 210 countries. We classified those with a decrease in PPD for more than five years into Group L (5 countries) and Group H (15 countries), where Group L consists of countries with declining TFR, while Group H includes those with increasing TFR. The main findings are as follows: countries in Group H have low PPD but experience less outflow of their young population, suggesting potential for increased TFR. Additionally, high WEI and GPC create an environment that supports women's careers. Korea shows a trend of decreasing population density, and its TFR rebounded in 2024. Korea has higher WEI and GPC than countries in Group H, indicating the possibility of a rebound in TFR; however, high PPD remains a concerning factor.
