국문 초록

본 연구는 2015 개정 영어과 교육과정에서 제시한 핵심역량(영어 의사소통, 자기관리, 공동체, 지식정보처리)이 고등학교 영어 수업에서 얼마나 구현되고 있는지를 교사 인식을 통해 분석하였다. 급변하는 사회·기술 환경에 대응하기 위한 역량기반 교육의 필요성이 대두되는 가운데, 광주 소재 고등학교 영어 교사 32명을 대상으로 실시한 온라인 설문 결과 모든 역량이 중간 이상의 정합도를 보였으나 영어 의사소통 역량은 가장 낮은 정합도를 나타내어 교육과정 의도와 실제 실행 간 간극을 확인할 수 있었다. 반면, 지식정보처리 역량은 상대적으로 높은 정합도를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 역량기반 교육의 이론과 실천 사이에 구조적 괴리가 존재함을 시사하며, 향후 교육 체제 개선과 교사 지원 강화가 필요함을 제안한다.

영문 초록

This study investigates the extent to which the core competencies outlined in the 2015 Revised National English Curriculum are implemented in Korean high school English classes. Against the backdrop of rapid socio-economic and technological change, competency-based education has emerged as a key strategy for preparing students for future challenges. Focusing on four core competencies—English communication, self-management, community, and knowledge information processing—the study examines teachers’ perceptions regarding the alignment between the curriculum’s theoretical definitions and classroom practices. An online survey administered to 32 high school English teachers in Gwangju revealed that while all competencies achieved moderate alignment, English communication competency exhibited the lowest perceived congruence, whereas knowledge information processing competency attained the highest. These findings indicate a notable gap between curricular intentions and actual teaching practices, particularly in areas traditionally less tangible in language instruction. The study underscores the need for systemic reforms and enhanced teacher support to ensure that competency-based curricula translate into meaningful educational outcomes in evolving learning environments.
