국문 초록

이 연구에서는 과학-기술-사회(STS)와 관련된 고등학생의 견해에 대한 예비화학교사의 지식과 교육적 요구를 조사하였다. 서울권, 충청권, 경상권에 소재한 3개 사범대학에서 교육과정을 모두 이수한 4학년 예비화학교사 29명이 연구에 참여하였다. 모든 연구참여자를 대상으로 설문을 실시하였으며, 이 중 9명의 예비교사를 대상으로 면담을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 예비교사들은 학생이 가진 STS에 대한 견해를 잘 예상하지 못했으며, 예상하더라도 그 근거가 명확하지 않거나 개인의 경험과 생각을 바탕으로 한 경우가 대부분이었다. 실제 학생을 관찰한 경험을 근거로 예상한 경우는 매우 적었으며, 교과교육학 수업에서 배운 내용을 참고한 경우는 없었다. 예비교사는 학생의 견해를 잘 알기 위해 교육실습과 같이 학생을 직접 접할 수 있는 기회를 확대하는 것이 가장 필요하다고 생각했으며, 교과교육학 수업과 교육과정 자료 및 출판사 제공 자료에서 학생이 가질 수 있는 견해를 제시할 필요가 있다고 응답했다. 이상의 결과를 바탕으로 예비화학교사 교육과정을 위한 시사점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

In this study, we investigated preservice chemistry teachers’ knowledge and educational needs regarding high school students’ views on Science-Technology-Society (STS). Twenty-nine senior preservice chemistry teachers who had completed the entire curricula at one of the three universities located in Seoul, Chungcheong, and Gyeongsang regions participated in the study. Surveys and follow-up interviews were conducted. The analyses of the results revealed that preservice teachers struggled to accurately predict students’ views on the STS, often basing their predictions on personal experiences rather than perceived patterns or findings in literature. In order to understand students’ views better, they emphasized more opportunities such as teaching practice to interact directly with students. They also suggested that the courses and curriculum materials should provide insights into potential student perspectives. Based on these findings, educational implications for preservice chemistry teacher education are discussed.
