국문 초록

Background/Objectives: This study aimed to not only identify the current status and problems through the case analysis of vacant house utilization in Chungcheongbuk-do but also obtain implications for the direction, planning, and management of vacant house utilization. Methods: The research method was to derive evaluation criteria through theoretical examination, investigate domestic and international cases, and identify the current status and problems through the field investigation of four cases of vacant house utilization in Chungcheongbuk-do. The evaluation results were evaluated on a 5-point scale, and the average was calculated by including content analysis. Results: First, in terms of the direction of vacant house utilization, it was found to be excellent overall in reflecting regional characteristics and improving the surrounding environment, but the participation of local residents and youth was insufficient. Second, it was found that the application of convenience, openness, diversity, and historical features except safety and accessibility was excellent in terms of the planning and operational aspect of vacant house utilization. Conclusion/Implications: Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to improve the safety, accessibility, and participation of local residents and youth. Furthermore, sustainable operation is required to maintain a clean and pleasant environment near vacant houses. The results of this study can be used as basic data for developing guidelines on vacant house management projects that can respond to regional extinction crises.
