영재 청소년의 개인상담 경험에 대한 질적연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 영재 청소년 내담자가 개인상담에서 어떠한 경험을 하는지 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 세평적 사례선택과 눈덩이 표집으로 영재교육대상자인 연구참여자 5명을 선정했고, 반구조화된 질문을 활용한 심층면담을 진행하여 자료를 수집했다. 참여자는 면담시기로부터 1년 이내에 최소 10회 이상의 개인상담을 받은 경험이 있는 만 13세∼18세에 해당하는 영재교육대상자로서 기준을 충족했다. Colaizzi 현상학적 연구방법에 따라 분석한 결과 ‘영재교육의 득과 실에 대한 인식 명료화’, ‘개인상담을 활용한 영재청소년의 주체성 회복’, ‘개인상담을 자원화하여 문제 해결과 변화 시도’라는 3개 범주, 6개 주제군집, 18개 주제, 68개 구성의미가 도출되었다. 영재교육의 득과 실에 대한 인식을 명료화한 영재 청소년들은 개인상담을 자원으로 활용해 주체성을 회복하고 호소문제를 해결하며 변화를 도모했다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 영재 청소년에게 효과적인 상담을 제공하기 위한 시사점을 논의했다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to discover and identify experiences of individual counseling among gifted adolescents in Korea. For this purpose, 5 participants who were gifted and talented were selected through reputational case selection and snowball sampling, and data were collected through in-depth interviews using semi-structured questions. The participants met the criteria of being gifted and talented students aged 13 to 18 years old who had received at least 10 sessions on individual counseling within one year of the interview. The analysis was conducted using Colaizzi’s phenomenological research method and resulted in 3 categories, 6 theme clusters, 18 themes, and 68 formulated meanings, including ‘clarification of the perceived benefits and drawbacks of gifted education,’ ‘using individual counseling to restore the agency of gifted youth,’ and ‘using individual counseling as a resource to solve problems and attempt change’. Gifted adolescents who experienced the benefits and drawbacks of gifted education used individual counseling as a resource to restore their agency, solve their problems, and make changes. Based on the findings, implications for providing effective individual counseling to gifted adolescents are discussed.
