With the development of global integration, Asia's world status and influence are gradually increasing. Asian civilization is composed of multiple structures such as culture, economy, politics and history. Asian culture is an important indicator of Asian studies, which can reflect the social structure and social life of Asia. Therefore, the study of Asian culture can better help humans understand Asia. As a cultural phenomenon, art records and transmits the development and changes of human society through the carrier of history and culture. As a major branch of art, dance shows cultural deposits through physical movements. This study compares and analyzes the Chinese national ballet ‘Raise the Red Lantern’ and the Korean national ballet ‘Shin Qing’ through literature review and image analysis. The purpose of the study is to investigate the differences and unity of metaphorical expression in different countries in the same cultural circle, so as to think about the development direction of Asian national ballet in the 21st century. The study found that China and South Korea belong to the Asian cultural circle, and are also influenced by Confucianism, and there is a “sameness” between cultures. However, due to the differences in geographical environment, historical background and cognitive style, the artistic creation of the two countries also has a “diversity”. The author proposes that the development of Asian ballet drama in the 21st century needs to make efforts from three directions: “using the foreign for the East”, “paying attention to metaphorical techniques”, and “pursuing new modes of dance drama creation”. It is hoped that this study can provide an ideological basis for the choreographers' dance creation in the 21st century.
