In 1980s to 1990s, the Post-Hollywood Era defined as a second New Hollywood, a variety of investment and operating strategies have tried in the theatrical exhibition industry. This changing has led to fundamental alterations in the structure and elements of the segment. Some of big cinema chains have failed, while others have servived. And new competitors emerged have been into the Top class of the market. This analyzes the contemporary american theatrical exhibiton industry from the mid-1980s throughout 1990s to the early 2000s, and checks the main points to make the deep and rapid change of exhibiton window's paradime. The strategies hold the top multiplex and megaplex cinema chains in the media merging age, were concentration, vertical integration, and diversification. These became to the major trend to increase in both screens and product supply, espacially blockbuster movies. However, by early 1990s, all three strategies were abandoned because of they exposed themselves as weak in their ability to impove the profit or the dealing power with the distributors. The cinema chain have already pressured under the heavy debt spent to build new muliplex sites and M&A other exhibition chain, but the net profit couldn't turn to the positive. Through the mid-1990s, new competitors and old rivals in the american theatrical exhibition industry have concentrated on getting back to basic, the show of the motion picture itself.
