The purpose of this study is to compare the thought of Walter Benjamin on language, translation and otherness with that of Emmanuel Levinas and Jacques Derrida. In addition, this study is to examine the similarities and differences between them while concretely embodying the fact that they resonate with the philosophical and ethical cognition. Benjamin's various concepts of translation and language are the main philosophical foundations of his whole thought, including cultural translation, art theory, and literary criticism. In order to empirically prove the connection of Benjamin, Levinas, and Derrida's thoughts, this study examines that Benjamin's central ideas on language and translation are linked with philosophical reflection on otherness, hospitality and friendship. This study focuses on categories, such as subject, other, language, translation, hospitality, ethics, and difference to compare their thoughts.
