국문 초록

본 연구는 두 가지 유형의 장애관련 모의체험활동을 질적 연구방법으로 비교·분석함으로써 기존의 장애인식개선교육 또는 장애이해교육에서 빈번하게 사용되는 모의장애체험에 대해 문제를 제기하고 주류 및 비주류적 활동으로 구성되는 “비/장애 체험활동”이라는 비평적 대안을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위해, 연구자는 두 가지 유형의 활동을 주류 및 비주류적 체험활동으로 지칭·분류하고 설계하였다. A교육대학교 142명의 비장애 일반 예비초등교사들은 두 유형의 체험활동에 참여한 후 반응일지를 작성하였다. 수거된 총 130개의 반응일지는 질적 연구방법을 사용하여 분석되었다. 연구결과, “수직적 역지사지”와 “수평적 동병상련”이라는 두 개의 상위주제들과 여섯 개의 하위주제(타자화 된 장애, 장애와 비장애의 서열화, 시혜적/치료적 접근, 사회화된 장애, 공감대 형성, 자기반영적 접근)이 도출되었다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 하여 장애와 비장애에 대한 비평적 시각과 다층적 공감을 조성할 수 있는 다양한 체험활동의 개발과 실시에 대해 논의한다.

영문 초록

The purposes of this study are two-fold. By comparing and analyzing two types of disability simulation exercises, this study aims to critically problematize a disability simulation exercise and to provide a Dis/ability Simulation Exercise as an alternative. To do so, the researcher named two different types of simulation exercises mainstream and non-mainstream respectively and designed each accordingly. 142 nondisabled teacher candidates attending an A University of Education participated in the two exercises and were asked to write response papers. Using a qualitative research method, this study analyzed the 130 response papers the partcipants submitted. Research findings from this study indicate two themes(vertical and horizontal empathy) narrated by six subthemes(otherized disability, hierarchical relations, charity/medical approach, socialized disability, empathy-forming, and self-reflexive approach). Based on the findings, the study discussed implications and suggestions which can foster critical perspectives on dis/ability and multi-layered empathy for disability awareness programs.
