영문 초록

Jonathan has been rendered incredible as a mediator between Saul and David and served the primary means for making the transition from Saul to David. Because of his abdication the status of heir to David in accordance to God's will. Jonathan had been described extremely positive way by most moder scholars. However, ironically, according to divine will. Jonathan cannot be a king as a son of rejected king. The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate Jonathan not as David's friend but as David's most powerful possible-contender for Israelite kingship. This thesis finds out that I Samuel 13-14 shows implicitly Jonathan's negative personalities to become a leader of Israel. especially, in the comparison of the leadership with David.
