The purpose of this study was to investigate the participation structures to happen among students themselves or students and teacher in sixth grade of practical arts classes. For this purpose, research questions were set as what are the types of participant structure in the practical arts classes of the elementary level. Twenty practical arts classes were observed.
Data was collected by video recordings, observation, and interview of teacher and students.
The results was followings: First, The types of participant structure were classified into seven:1) A teacher has to initiate the interaction by the object of whole class, 2) A teacher and students are to interact with priority given to teaching materials, specially textbooks, 3)Students interact with students in small group under the teacher direction, 4) A specific student presents to the whole students under the teacher direction, 5) A specific student reacts in body under the teacher direction, 6) A teacher presents/reacts under the student direction, 7) To interact liberate among students of themselves. Second, the participant structures were not changed by teacher individual features or student of it. It was changed by the main activity to achieve the instructional objectives. Third, a teacher was called for the
role of a facilitator in the practical arts classes. Forth, Students were permitted to interact with the other students in the practical arts classes autonomously and they conceived that the practical arts classes were interesting and free.
