우울과 장애수용이 중도장애인의 자살생각에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 우울과 장애수용이 중도장애인의 자살생각에 미치는 영향을 살펴보는 것이다. 조사방법은 서울시 성북구 등록장애인 224명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 중도장애인의 자살생각에 대해 일반적 특성, 장애수용, 우울이 미치는 영향 등을 위계적 회귀분석을 통해 살펴본 결과, 일반적 특성요인 중 사회복지서비스 이용경험이, 장애수용, 우울과 함께 중도장애인의 자살생각에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 사회복지 서비스 이용경험이 있고, 장애수용이 낮고 우울수준이 높은 중도장애인이 자살생각에 상대적으로 취약하다는 것과 이들에 대한 자살위험 사정과 개입에 노력이 필요함을 의미한다. 따라서, 중도장애인을 대상으로 장애수용, 우울예방 프로그램, 자살예방 프로그램, 위기 개입, 사후관리 등 지역사회 서비스가 필요하고, 사회적 취약계층에 대한 자살데이터 구축과 자살예방을 위한 홍보 강화, 자살문제에 대한 지역사회의 체계적인 전담시스템 구축 등 정책적 지원이 필요함을 제언하였다.

영문 초록

This study is aimed at examining the influence of depression and disabled person’s acceptance of his/her condition on suicidal ideation of persons with disabilities due to accident. This study was based on a survey of 224 registered disabled persons in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, Korea. The results of this study, using hierarchical regression analysis, show that as a general tendency, experience with social and community services, disabled person’s acceptance of his/her condition and depression were meaningful factors affecting suicidal ideation among persons with disabilities due to accident. These results reveal that those persons with disabilities who receive community services, a low level of disabled person’s acceptance of his/her condition and a high level of depression have a relatively higher level of vulnerable to suicidal ideation, and efforts must be made to intervene and assess the risk of suicide. Our recommendation is to retool community services to be more accepting of persons with disabilities, take actions to prevent depression, implement crisis intervention steps and conduct regular follow-ups on disabled persons due to accident. Policy should reflect the provision of funding for the setting up of a suicide database, increased public campaigns for suicide prevention, and implementation of a dedicated system for systematic intervention under a comprehensive community suicide prevention program for this vulnerable social group.
