韓半島 北部地域 車馬具의 登場과 性格

국문 초록

한반도 북부지역에서 차마구는 31개 유적의 136개 유구에서 확인되었는데, 특히 서북한지역에 집중되어 있다. 이 지역에서 차마구는 車馬坑이 별도로 마련되어 있지 않으며 무덤 안에 부장되고 있다. 선행연구에서는 乙字形銅器와 管形銅器를 고삐걸개(고삐손쥐개, 掛繮鉤)로 보고, 토착적인 차마구를 대표하는 것이라 하였다. 또한 이 지역의 차마구를 쌍두마차(獨輈車)와 관련된 것으로 이해하기도 하였다. 그러나 中原地域 차마구를 감안하고 수레를 끄는 방법(系駕法)의 발전과정을 살펴보면, 乙자형동기와 관형동기는 獨輈車가 아니라 雙轅車의 멍에와 관련된 것으로 생각된다. 한반도 북부지역에서 출토된 차마구는 胸帶式系駕法을 사용하는 雙轅車의 부속구인 것이다. 雙轅車는 前漢중기부터 본격적으로 사용되기 시작해서 前漢말기 이후에 성행하기 때문에 한반도 북부지역의 차마구는 樂浪郡을 통해 들어온 漢式 車馬具로 판단된다. 또한 대부분 한마리의 말이 끄는 수레로 생각되는데, 漢代의 鹵簿制度에서 확인되는 樂浪郡의 등급과도 일치하는 것이다. 그리고 한반도 북부지역에서는 수레를 통째로 묻지 않고 수레의 각 부분을 대표하는 부속구를 부장한 것으로 생각된다.

영문 초록

This paper examines chariot fittings and harnesses discovered from the northern part of the Korean peninsula. The examined artifacts are dated to the Bronze and Early-Iron ages. Remains of chariot fittings and harnesses have been discovered from a total of thirty-one sites across the northen Korean peninsula. Most sites are located in the western region except for two in the eastern region. The remains from the northen Korean Peninsula stylistically belong to the Han period. The assemblages typically consist of a few standard components of chariot fittings and harnesses, which were placed in the tombs as a burial gift. Stylistically, the remains are similar to their counterparts produced during the Qin and Han dynasties in central China. The remains from Korea, however, were not buried in individual chariot pits. The analysis of the“ 乙”-shaped bronze tools and the pipe-shaped bronze tools indicates that these remains were used for a double-beam chariot drawn by a single horse. The stylistical similarities observed between the archaeological assemblages of the northern Korean peninsula and central China suggest that these equipments were introduced to the Korean peninsula from China probably under the influence of the Lelang commandery.
