영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the student’s preference and sensibility to check pattern fabrics and apparels such as gingham check, plaid check, tartan check, burberry check, window pane check, and to analyze the difference according to gender of the university students. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 258 university students(male students 55.8%, female students 44.2%) in Cheongju. F-test, t-test and factor analysis were used for data analysis. The results were as follows. 1. Female students preferred gingham check and plaid check, as feminine and contemporary, while male students preferred tartan check, as familiar and luxurious. Meanwhile, the preference to burberry check and window pane check was similar to both genders. 2. In the survey, the university students possessed ‘gingham check shirts’ the most in average. 3. The students evaluated the gingham check shirt as individual, modern and chunky, but not fancy, the plaid check shirt as familiar, freely, and modern, but not individual, the tartan check shirt as familiar, chunky and luxurious, but not feminine, the burberry check shirt as familiar, luxurious, sophisticated and soft, and the window pane check shirt as familiar, soft, freely, but not fancy or feminine.
