영문 초록

  The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of mother"s parenting behavior and involvement behavior in sibling conflict on young children"s sibling relationship, The participants of this study consisted of mothers with 7 year old children attending 13 kindergartens located in Cheong ju, Chung ju, Cheong won-gun and Eum seong-gun.
  The results of this study were as follows:
  First, among the mothers" parenting behaviors, reasonable parenting behavior showed to have the strongest influence on affectionate and close sibling relationship. The children of mothers who showed more authoritarian controls had more sibling discords and had more status or power-oriented relationship.
  Second, it was found that mother"s child-oriented involvement behavior in verbal and physical discord of siblings resulted into more affectionate and close sibling relationship. It was also found that the more use of mother"s parent-oriented control in verbal and physical discord of siblings led children to have more sibling discords. Lastly, it was found that the more mothers used parent-oriented control in verbal and physical discord of sibling, the more siblings had status and power-oriented relationship.
