Views on man are dependent upon ages, cultures, countries and other various factors. The reason Thomas Aquinas was selected as the main theme of this study was that he had an outstanding ability to integrate all the aspects of human nature; he endeavored to amalgamize various trends of thoughts in his genius perspective. In this regard, his understanding of human beings is considered to go beyond his own age and serve to establish integral views on human nature.
A single word representing Thomas Aquinas' anthropology is the sense of balance on the whole. The philosophy he develops is at the same time dualistic and monistic, and essential and existential. He accept, on the human being, the dualism of the body and the soul. At the same time, he lay emphasis on the unity of them. And Thomas Aquinas believed that the human soul was created by God, and that the human intellect was derived from the ability of the soul.
From this observation arises Thomas Aquinas' conception of existential human beings. He states that individual human beings exist in their different conditions of the body, the soul and the intellect. At the same time, however, he believed that all individual human beings are endowed with dignity since they are of the common divine source. Every human community develops its unique type of culture. That is, culture is none other than the revelation and realization of human essence in the world, hence the personality of a given community.
It may be hoped that Thomas Aquinas' concepts of sense of integral balance and of insights will be of great help in furthering the understanding of human beings, and that his thoughts and pedagogy will provide solutions to problems facing the current education system.
To conclude this study, it is reaffirmed that as Thomas Aquinas suggested, the ideal starting point of education should be the basic understanding of human beings and love of humanity
