국문 초록

이 연구는 성인진입기에 있는 한 청년 교육혁신가의 정체성 형성 과정에 대한 것이다. 정체성 형성 여부에 치우쳐 있는 기존의 연구의 한계를 극복하고 개인마다 독특할 수밖에 없는 정체성 형성과정에 대해 고찰하기 위해 독신호학이라는 교육혁신단체를 운영하고 있는 한 청년(흰곰)의 정체성 이야기를 들어보았다. 흰곰의 정체성 이야기는 내러티브 탐구 방법을 사용하여 기술, 분석되었다. 흰곰과의 대화내용이 전사된 녹취록, 독신호학의 인터넷사이트에서 출력한 다양한 교육 프로그램 정보, 흰곰이 SNS에 올린 자신에 대한 이야기, 흰곰에 대한 언론 기사 등을 종합하여 흰곰의 정체성 형성 과정에 접근하였다. 흰곰의 정체성 이야기를 분석한 결과, 공교육기관과 독신호학에서 흰곰은 재미있는 놀이를 즐겼고, 이 놀이는 교육의 주체는 학생이어야 한다는 신념을 실천하는 통로였다는 것을 알게 되었다. 흰곰의 정체성 이야기는 정체성 탐색의 기간에 playfulness를 즐겨야 한다는 Erikson(1968)의 지적이 타당함을 증명해주었다. 정체성 성취여부를 진단하기에 앞서 정체성 형성을 위한 놀이를 허락하지 않는 우리의 교육을 되돌아 볼 시점이다. This study is about the identity formation process of an educational innovator during his emerging adulthood years. To overcome the limitation of current research trend of focusing on identity achievement and to investigate the uniqueness of identity formation process, I met one emerging adult, Hihngohm, who is the leader of educational innovation group, Dokshinhohak, and heard his story in terms of identity. Hihngohm's identity story was described and analyzed using narrative inquiry. The written conversation script between me and Hihngohm, information on various educational programs about Dokshinhohak retrieved from its homepage, Hihngohm's autobiographical stories uploaded on his SNS, and media articles about Hihngohm were used to investigate his identity formation process. Hihngohm's identity story told me that he played joyfully while he was in the public school system and Dokshinhohak and he put into practice his conviction that the subject of education should be the student. His identity story also verified Erikson's idea (1968) that playfulness is the key component of identity exploration. We have to look back on our education system, which is not letting students play before asking whether identity has been achieved or not.
