영유아 교사의 헬스리터러시(Health literacy) 양상

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 국내 영유아 교사의 헬스리터러시 수준 및 이와 관련된 교사의 개인적, 상황적 변인을 파악함으로써 영유아 교사의 일반적인 헬스리터러시 양상을 살펴 보았다. 본 연구의 대상은 어린이집과 유치원을 포함한 영유아 교육기관에서 0~5세 영유아 학급을 담당하고 있는 교사 175명이다 본 연구에서 활용한 연구도구는 세계보건기구 유럽 지역 사무소가 개발한 HLS-EU-Q47(S0rensen et al., 2012)을 Pelikan와 Ganahl(2017)가 16개 설문 문항으로 축소한 버전(HLS-EU-Q16)이다 본 연구 결과, 헬스리터러시가 적정 수준인 교사가 적정 수준이 아닌 교사보다 많은 것으로 나타났다. 문항별로는 정보 이해 관련 문항, 정보 획득 관련 문항, 정보 평가 관련 문항의 순으로 높게 나타났다. 교육정도가 높아지면 헬스리터러시도 높아지는 경향을 보였으며 , 경력이 6년 미만인 경우에 적정 수준이 평균보다 높게 나타났다 그러나 연령, 기관 유형, 담당 학급 연령에 따라서는 헬스리터러시에 일정한 경향성이 드러나지는 않았다. 본 연구는 영유아 교사 및 영유아의 건강 증진을 위한 하나의 요건으로 영유아 교사의 헬스리터러시를 제안하고 탐색하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study investigates the general aspects of health literacy among early childhood teachers by examining the health literacy levels of early childhood teachers, alongside relevant personal and situational factors of early childhood teachers. The subjects of this study were 175 teachers in charge of children aged 0-5 in early childhood education institutions including daycare centers and kindergartens. The research tool used in this study is a version (HLS-EU-Q16) revised by Pelican and Ganahl (2017) to 16 questionnaires (Sørensen et al.) developed by the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization. Findings revealed that a greater proportion of teachers exhibited appropriate levels of health literacy compared to those with inadequate levels. Questions related to information understanding, information acquisition, and information evaluation were highest in order. Health literacy tended to increase with higher levels of education. However, no significant trends were observed in relation to age, years of experience, type of institution, or the age group of children taught. This study is significant in that it proposed and explored early childhood teachers' health literacy as a requirement for improving the health of young children and teachers.
