영문 초록

Estazolam is a triazolo benzodiazepine hypnotic agent, which is similar in pharmacological spectrum to nitrazepam and flurazepam. It is claimed that the agent is more potent in sleep-inducing action than nitrazepam. It is important that any new psychotropic drugs should be tested for their interaction with alcohol, because the risk of accidents might be increased by their potentiating action of alcohol. The study was undertaken to investigate the effects of estazolam on blood alcohol level in rabbits. The experiment was done on mature rabbits of both sexes. The control group was given alcohol alone and the experimental groups were given various oral doses of estazolam before alcohol injection； namely, 2mg/kg/day for 5 days and for lOdays, 4mg/kg/day for 5 days and for 10 days, respectively. Blood samples were obtained by cardiac puncture at both 15 and 45 minutes after alcohol adm inistration, and blood alcohol level was determined by Cavett’s method. There was no significant difference in bood alcohol level between the control and each of the experimental groups, 2mg/kg/day for 5 days and for 10 days at 45 minutes after alcohol administration. In all the other experimental groups, however, estazolam significantly elevated blood alcohol level
