영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between couples' marital satisfaction and related variables, with special reference to familism. The subjects of this study were 620 couples who live in Seoul or the province of Kyungki-Do. The structured questionnaires, a separate one for the husband and another one for the wife, had been collected between May and July, 1994. Based on the couple data, statistical techniques such as frequence, percent, mean, pairs t-test, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analysis were used to examine the research questions of this study. The major findings are as follows : 1) The level of couples' satisfaction is higher than average. But husbands are more satisfied with their marriage than their wives. 2)The level of couples' familism is lower than average. But husband support traditional familism more strongly than their wives. 3)The couples' marital satisfactions are influenced by negative way by their husbands' traditional familism. This study suggests that our society need humanistic norm beyond traditional familism so we can increase the quality of marriage.
