국문 초록

본 논문은 한국산업단지공단의 전국 산업단지 현황자료와 산업단지 개별 입주업체들의 고용자료를 이용하여 산업단지 입주업체 고용분포에 따라 산업단지의 경제적 성과가 어떻게 상이한지를 실증적으로 분석한다. 실증분석결과에 의하면, 산업단지가 다수의 중소기업들로 구성된 경우에 비해 소수의 대기업으로 구성된 경우 해당 산업단지의 노동자 1인당 생산액과 수출액이 보다 큰 것으로 나타난다. 특히, 여러 연도의 자료를 이용한 패널분석이나 내생성을 고려한 도구변수분석에서도 대체로 유사한 결과가 관찰된다. 이러한 산업단지 고용분포의 경제적 성과에 대한 영향은 최근에 보다 현저하게 나타나며, 산업단지 유형들 가운데 농공단지에서 상대적으로 그 영향이 작은 것으로 분석된다. 이는 우리나라 산업단지 내 중소기업들이 외적인 규모의 경제나 네트워크 효과를 충분히 누리지 못하고 있음을 의미하고 이의 개선을 위한 정책적 노력이 필요함을 함축한다.

영문 초록

This paper empirically analyzes how the economic performance of industrial complexes differs depending on the employment distribution of plants in industrial complexes, using the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation’s national industrial complex status data and employment data of individual plants in industrial complexes. According to the results of the empirical analysis, the amount of production and exports per worker in the industrial complex is greater when the industrial complex is composed of a small number of large companies compared to when the industrial complex is composed of a large number of small and medium-sized companies. In particular, generally similar results are observed in panel analysis using data from multiple years and instrumental variable analysis considering endogeneity. The impact of employment distribution in industrial complexes on economic performance has become more pronounced recently, and the impact is analyzed to be relatively small in agricultural and industrial complexes among industrial complex types. It implies that small- and medium-size firms in industrial complexes do not sufficiently utilize external scale economies and the effect of networks, and indicates that policy efforts to improve them are required.
