국문 초록

Objectives This study aims to examine the research trends related to clinical skills examinations in Korean medicine (KM) procedures and to identify the specific evalua- tion models utilized in existing studies. The goal is to provide foundational insights for improving educational and assessment frameworks in KM. Methods A scoping review was conducted based on the framework proposed by Arksey and O’Malley and reported in accordance with the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Literature searches were performed using core keywords such as “KM procedures” (including acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, and Chuna) and “clinical skills exami- nation” (including OSCE and clinical skill assessment) in PubMed, OASIS, and RISS databases for Korean and English publications up to March 31, 2025. After screening titles, abstracts, and full texts, studies were selected based on inclusion criteria. Key study characteristics—such as study design, evaluation content, and assessment model—were extracted and summarized in tabular form. The study selection process was visualized using a PRISMA flow diagram. Results Korean medical schools mainly conducted small-scale OSCEs focused on individual clinical skills, while North American chiropractic programs implemented comprehensive high-stakes OSCEs. Although various procedures such as acu- puncture, pharmacopuncture, and ultrasound were assessed, OSCEs in Korea remain limited as summative assessments. The use of standardized patients and simulators was partial and not yet systematic. Conclusions To fully utilize OSCEs as high-stakes assessments, further structural development is required, including standardized rubrics, examiner training, and the establishment of standardized patient infrastructure across institutions.
