국문 초록

In this paper, I claim that the so-called IHRC in Korean is formed via external merge of traceless adnominal clauses and an NP kes. I further claim that the IHRC is subject to two conditions. The IHRC is possible only when kes is not expletive, and the replacement of kes by other nouns is unacceptable. I propose that these conditions hold because a restriction in the extension of kes by an internal head is available only under these conditions. If correct, the paper's claims have important implications for other issues such as the nature of kes in the IHRC, the relation between the IHRC and the EHRC in Korean and typological considerations of the IHRC in Korean.
