토픽모델링을 통한 ‘사회적 고립’ 국내 연구 동향 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 사회적 고립에 대한 국내 연구 동향을 토픽 모델링을 사용하여 분석했다. 선행 연구 검토를 통해 국내외에서 사회적 고립에 대한 관심이 어떻게 변화하고 있는지를 살펴보고, 사회적 고립을 키워드로 하는 2004년∼2024년 한국학술지인용색인(KCI) 데이터베이스에 등재된 국내 학술 논문을 대상으로 주요 연구 주제를 살펴 보았다. 연구 방법으로는 비정형 텍스트 데이터를 분석해 문서 집합에 등장하는 주요 토픽들을 도출하는 데 효과적인 방법인 잠재 디리클레 할당(LDA)을 활용하였다. 분석 결과, 국내 사회적 고립 연구는 첫째, 노인, 아동 ․ 청소년, 가족, 이주민, 장애인 등 취약 계층의 고독이나 사회적 단절을 다루는 연구가 대다수이며, 특히 노인 관련 주제가 압도적으로 높은 비중을 차지하고 있었다. 둘째, 사회적 고립을 고독사, 외로움, 우울 등과 연관해 고찰하는 연구가 많아, 여전히 사회적 고립을 사회 차원이 아닌 개인 차원으로 인식하는 경향이 두드러진다. 셋째, 사회적 고립의 양상과 동학을 드러내는 키워드들이 토픽으로 분류되지 않을 만큼 일반적 수준에서 고립의 문제를 다루고 있다. 넷째, 개인정신건강이나 지역 사회나 공동체와 관련된 사례 분석 연구가 주를 이루고 있어, 사회 불평등, 도시화, 글로벌화 등을 고려한 구조적 ․ 심층적인 연구는 아직 본격화 되지 않았음을 발견했다. 사회적 고립은 외로움이라는 개인의 주관적 정서를 넘어 사회 전체에 영향을 미치는 중요한 사회 문제로 대두되고 있다. 본 연구는 사회적 고립에 관한 국내 연구 주제를 살펴봄으로써 향후 정책 개발과 학문적 연구 방향에 시사점을 제시하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed domestic research trends on social isolation using topic modeling. Reviewing the previous studies, it examined how reseach trends in social isolation have changed domestically and internationally. For this purpose, the study examined major research topics in domestic academic papers listed in the Korea Citation Index (KCI) database from 2004 to 2024 using social isolation as a keyword. As a research method, we utilized Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), which is an effective method for analyzing unstructured text data to derive major topics appearing in a document set. As a result, first, most domestic social isolation studies deal with loneliness or social isolation of vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, adolescents, women, immigrants, and the disabled. In particular, topics related to the elderly account for an overwhelmingly high proportion. Second, it was found that most studies have focused on social isolation in relation to lonely death, loneliness, and depression, indicationg a prominent tendency to perceive social isolation at the individual level rather than the societal level. Third, research topics related to social structure or political system were found to be so weak that they were not classified as topics. Fourth, we found that most of the research is focused on case studies related to individual mental health, communities, which means the in-depth reseaches from the social structural perspective focusing on social inequality, urbanization, or globalization have not been sufficiently conducted. Social isolation is emerging as a significant social problem that affects the entire society beyond the subjective emotions of individuals such as loneliness. This study aims to provide implications for future policy development and academic research directions by examining domestic research topics on social isolation.
