국문 초록

이 글은 2023년 10월 7일 이후 팔레스타인을 둘러싼 언론 보도를 중심으로, 정착민 식민지주의·점령·봉쇄를 심화해온 역사적 문맥의 사상(捨象)을 비판적으로 검토했다. 팔레스타인 가자에 대한 이스라엘의 공격은 무력을 통한 대규모 학살만이 아니라, 주택·의료 시스템·기초 인프라 등의 조직적 파괴, 토양·지하수·대기 오염 등 자연환경의 파괴, 역사·문화적 가치를 지닌 장소의 파괴 등, 팔레스타인 땅과 깊이 연결된 '팔레스타인인' 정체성의 기반인 ‘역사적 기억’을 학살하는 제노사이드다. 미국과 일본 등 세계의 미디어는 검증되지 않은 정보를 보도하며 ‘하마스의 잔인한 테러’라는 언설을 확산시키는 반면, 위법적 점령 및 봉쇄를 비롯하여 팔레스타인인을 향한 이스라엘의 정착민 식민지주의와 ‘민족 청소(ethnic cleansing)’ 폭력의 오랜 역사적 문맥은 사상시키고 있다. 여기에는 하마스의 공격과 이스라엘의 제노사이드를 식민지 지배와 역사적인 저항의 폭력의 문제로서, 즉 ‘기원의 폭력(起源の暴力)’을 사유할 수 있는 지적 기반이나 역사적 시야가 결여되어 있다. 또한 신자유주의라는 현재형 식민지주의를 추진하는 세계 시스템의 내부에서, 시스템 그 자체를 의심하지 않은 채 그 일부를 구성하는 정보 산업으로서 존속하려는 기업 미디어의 특성에서 기인한다. 팔레스타인의 저항과 그에 연대하는 움직임은 보다 보편적인 역사적 망각에 저항하는 싸움이기도 하다.

영문 초록

This article critically examines media reports on Palestine since October 7, 2023, that has omitted the historical context of settler colonialism, occupation, and blockade on Palestine. Israel's attacks on Palestinian Gaza are not only massacres by force, through which systematic destruction of housing, medical systems, and basic infrastructure, but also genocide, which exterminates ‘historic memories,’ the basis of Palestinian identity deeply connected to Palestinian ‘land’, such as destruction of natural environments, destruction of places of historical and cultural value. While media around the world, including the United States and Japan, are reporting unverified information and spreading the word “Brutal Terror of Hamas,” it is omitting the long-standing historical context of Israeli settler colonialism and ethnic cleansing violence against Palestinians, including illegal occupation and blockade. This aspect indicate the lack of intellectual foundation or historical perspective to construe Hamas' attack and Israel's Genocide as a matter of violence of colonialism and historical resistance, namely “violence of origin(起源の暴力).” It also stems from the nature of the corporate media to survive as an information industry in the part of the global system which is driving neoliberalism as recent version of colonialism, without questioning the system itself. Palestinian resistance and movements in solidarity might be fights against more universal historical oblivion.
