노인상담 전문가들의 내담자 경험에 대한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

천만 노인 시대를 맞아 노인의 어려움과 문제 역시 증가하고 있으나 정작 노인을 대상으로 상담 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 인력과 경험자료는 턱없이 부족한 실정이다. 노인상담 전문가로 활동하고 있는 이들의 경험을 통하여 노인상담에 대한 이해를 탐구 하고 확장할 필요가 있다. 이에 석사 이상 학력을 소유하고 5년 이상의 임상 및 500 사례 이상의 노인상담 경력을 가진 상담자 중 이전에 비(非)노인 내담자를 최소 5년 이 상 상담해 본 경험이 있는 6인을 대상으로 노인상담만의 특성과 상담 과정 및 상담 평 가를 대면과 비대면으로 심층 인터뷰하였고 이를 Colaizzi 방법에 따라 현상학적 방법 으로 분석하였다. 20개의 의미 단위와 5개 하위 구성 요소가 도출되었고 2개의 구성요 소로 통합되었다. 구성요소는 노인상담 시 전이-역전이, 노인내담자들의 상담 이해와 성격특성 영향이었고 하위구성요소로는 노인상담자의 강한 전이, 노인상담자의 역전이 의 벽, 노인내담자의 상담 의지의 한계, 노인내담자의 상담 이해 정도 차이, 노인 내담 자 특성에 따른 상담 성과가 나타났다. 본 연구는 노인상담 전문가가 노인을 상담하는 과정에서 경험한 특성을 구체화함으로 한국적 노인상담모델 구축의 기초자료로 사용되 기를 희망한다.

영문 초록

As we enter an era with a population of ten million elderly, the difficulties and issues faced by the elderly are also increasing. However, there is a significant shortage of personnel and experiential resources to provide counseling services specifically for the elderly. It is necessary to explore and expand our understanding of elder counseling through the experiences of those working as elder counseling specialists. For this study, six counselors with a master's degree or higher, over five years of clinical experience, and more than 500 cases of elder counseling—who have also counseled non-elderly clients for at least five years—were selected. In-depth interviews were conducted both face-to-face and remotely to explore the unique characteristics, counseling processes, and evaluations in elder counseling. The data were analyzed phenomenologically using Colaizzi's method, resulting in 20 meaning units and five sub-components, which were integrated into two main components. The components identified were transference-countertransference in elder counseling and the impact of elderly clients' understanding and personality traits on counseling. The sub-components included strong transference by elder counselors, the barrier of countertransference, limits of elderly clients' willingness for counseling, differences in understanding of counseling among elderly clients, and counseling outcomes based on the characteristics of elderly clients. This study aims to be used as foundational data for establishing a Korean elder counseling model by concretizing the characteristics experienced by elder counseling specialists during their practice.
