국문 초록

조선후기 조정의 이순신 선양활동과 후손들의 이순신 존숭활동은 상호 상승작용을 일으켜 조선후기 이순신에 대한 인식을 긍정적으로 다지고 확산하는 데 큰 기여를 했다. 따라서 조선 후기 이순신 후손들의 활동상을 살펴보는 것은 이순신 인식의 흐름과 함께 충신 이순신 가(家)의 시대적 위상을 확인하는 데 필요한 사안이다. 이를 위해 조선 후기 이순신 후손들의 가계(家系)와 특징을 살펴보고 이순신 후손들의 활동상을 크게 국가 변란 시 극복 활동과 선조(先祖) 이순신에 대한 현창활동으로 나눠서 분석해 보았다. 이순신 후손들은 덕수 이씨 문중 후손 가운데 가장 많은 무과 급제자를 배출했으며, 주요 보직에서 큰 활동을 하였다. 이로써 무반 가문(武班家門)으로서 확고한 위상을 확립하였다. 이들의 활동을 보면 먼저 국가 변란 시 극복 활동에 기여했다는 점을 들 수 있다. 먼저 이괄의 난 때 이훈, 정묘호란 때 이완과 이신이, 이인좌의 난 때 이봉상과 이홍무가, 병인양요 때 이용희 등 국가 변란에서 이순신 후손들이 보여준 행태는 이순신의 후손이라는 자부심과 가문의 위상을 한껏 드높였다. 이순신 후손들은 이순신 기념시설의 건립과 보수, 문집의 간행 등에도 힘썼는데, 대다수 이순신이 봉직했던 곳에서 활동했던 인물들에 의해 이루어졌다. 가장 큰 활동을 한 인물은 이순신의 6세인 이봉상이다. 어쨌든 이를 통해 이순신 가문의 위상을 드높이고 백성들에게 충의심을 권장하는 데 기여하였다. 이러한 후손들의 활동은 오늘날 한국 사회에서 이순신이라는 위대한 영웅에 대한 이해를 돕고 그의 정신을 기억하면서 후대에 전승하는 당위성을 확보하는 데 기여한 것으로 볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

The royal court's activities to enhance Yi Sun-sin in the late Joseon Dynasty and the respect and worship of Yi Sun-sin by descendants caused mutual synergy, contributing greatly to the positive development and spread of awareness of Yi Sun-sin in the late Joseon Dynasty. Therefore, examining the activities of Yi Sun-sin's descendants in the late Joseon Dynasty is a necessary issue to confirm the status of the loyal Yi Sun-sin family along with the flow of Yi Sun-sin's perception. To this end, the family line and characteristics of Yi Sun-sin's descendants in the late Joseon Dynasty were examined, and the activities of Yi Sun-sin's descendants were largely divided into activities to overcome national turmoil and activities to support the ancestors Yi Sun-sin Yi Sun-sin's descendants produced the largest number of qualified martial arts military officer among the descendants of the Deoksu Yi clan, and were active in major positions. This established a solid status as a Muban family[武班家門]. Looking at their activities, first of all, they contributed to the activities of overcoming national turmoil. First of all, the behavior of Yi Sun-sin's descendants in the national rebellion, such as Lee Hoon during the rebellion of Yi Gwal, Lee Wan and Lee Shin during the rebellion of Jeong Myohoran, Lee Bong-sang and Lee Hong-moo during the rebellion of Lee In-jwa, and Lee Yong-hee during the rebellion of Byeongin Yangyo, raised the pride of being Yi Sun-sin's descendants and the status of the family to the fullest. Yi Sun-shin's descendants also worked hard on the construction and repair of Yi Sun-sin memorial facilities and the publication of anthologies, most of which were done by people who worked in the place where Yi Sun-sin served. Lee Bong-sang, the sixth generation grandson of Yi Sun-sin, was the most active figure. In any case, it contributed to enhancing the status of the Yi Sun-sin family and encouraging loyalty and loyalty to the people. These descendants' activities can be seen as contributing to the understanding of the great hero of Yi Sun-sin in today's Korean society and securing the legitimacy to pass on to future generations while remembering his spirit.
