국문 초록

象數學은 三淵 金昌翕이 만년에 이르도록 탐구한 학문 분야이다. 그가 지은 상수학 관련 詩들은 이러한 학문적 탐색의 노정을 보여 주는 것이자 한시사에 있어서 새로운 미적 영역의 확장을 가능케 한 것이다. 상수학은 성리학과 표리를 이루면서 경험 세계의 인식을 보다 명확하게 뒷받침하는 체계이다. 이러한 상수학은 조선 내부로는 성리학의 심화와 함께 관심의 영역으로 들어오기도 하였지만, 한편으로는 淸을 통해 들어온 서양 천문 역법에 대한 대응책으로써 탐구되었다. 그래서 삼연은 자신의 실존적 실천 수행의 한 방식으로 상수학을 택하였을 뿐만 아니라 동아시아의 문명사적 변혁기를 당해 조선 문인이자 학자의 한 사람으로써 상수학에 매진하였다. 그 결과 상수학의 집대성자인 邵雍의 철학과 삶의 방식을 적극 수용하여 학문과 문학 두 분야에 있어 두드러진 결과를 보여주었다. 삼연은 易學 해석에 있어 王弼, 程頤와 같은 학자의 義理易을 편향된 체계로 비판하고 상수야말로 역학에 있어 필수불가결한 요소로 생각하였다. 따라서 상수학의 완성자인 소옹의 학문과 삶의 궤적을 충실히 계승하고자 한 태도를 보였다. 소옹이 후대 문학과 학문에 미친 일상적 · 학문적 상징들은 그대로 삼연의 삶으로 투영되었다. 자신을 소옹의 삶의 태도에 비의하는 이러한 태도는 상수학에 대한 무한한 신뢰라고 할 수 있다. 아울러 소옹 철학의 핵심 개념인 ‘天根’, ‘月窟’을 시작에 다수 도입하고, 상수학의 순환 모식인 ‘三十六宮’의 의미에 대해 여러 설의 검증을 통해 확정함으로써 상수학의 이해도를 보여 주었다. 그리고 이러한 상수학적 이해는 梅花詩등 여러 시작에 구현됨으로써 이전 시기의 매화시와는 다른 미적 · 철학적 영역을 넓혔다고 할 수 있다. 그리고 삼연은 경험 세계의 발생과 순환을 관찰하는 것에서 머무르지 않고, 상수학의 순환 이론은 언제나 太極이라는 본원으로 환원되어 사색되어야함을 강조하여, 體用의 어느 한 측면에 머무르는 태도를 경계하였다.

영문 초록

Image-numerology(象數學)is an area of study in which Samyeon Kim Chang-heup(三淵金昌翕) has been explored to his later years. His poems related to image-numerology show the course of this scholarly exploration, allowing the extension of a new aesthetic domain in history of Sino-Korean poetry. Image-numerology is combined with Neo-Confucianism to form a system that supports the recognition of the experiential world more clearly. This image-numerology was explored as a countermeasure against the Western astronomy and the calendar that came through the Qing(淸) Dynasty, while it came in to the realm of interest in Joseon(朝鮮)with the deepening of Neo-Confucianism. Thus, Samyeon not only adopted image-numerology as away of performing his existential practice, but also devoted himself to image-numerology as one of Joseon's writers and scholars in East Asian civilization history. As a result, he was able to accept the philosophy and lifestyle of Sao Yong(邵雍), the culmination of image-numerology, and showed remarkable results in both academic and literary fields. Samyeon criticized the philosophical I ching(易經) of scholars such as Wang Bi(王弼) and Cheng Yi(程頤) in divination interpretation as a biased system and considered image-numerology as an indispensable element in the science of divination. Therefore, Sao Yong, the consummator of image-numerology, showed attitude toward succession of learning and life trajectory. The daily-academic symbols of Sao Yong in later literature and scholarship were projected into Samyeon's life. This attitude, which contrasts itself with the attitude of life on Sao Yong, is his infinite trust in image-numerology. In addition, many core concepts of Sao Yong philosophy such as Ch'ŏn'gŭn(天根) and Wŏlgul(月窟) were introduced at the poet's work, and the meaning of Thirty-six Palace(三十六宮)which is the circulation pattern of image-numerology through various theories was confirmed to show the understanding of image-numerology. And this image-numerological understanding is realized at various poems such as plum-poems(梅花詩), so that it extends the aesthetic-philosophical domain different from the plum-poems of the previous period. And Samyeon did not stay in observing the occurrences and circulations of the experiential world, but emphasized that the circulation theory of image-numerology should always be returned to the Great Ultimate(太極), and thus cautioned the attitude to stay on one side of Cheyong(體用) substance and function).
