국문 초록

This study aims at understanding of an influence of children's Internet and computer use activities and parenting styles on child-parent relations. Online and offline surveys were administered to the 212 4-12K school children. Main findings of the study are as follows: a. The more the children use a computer or the Internet, the less frequently they are likely to talk to their parents, b. The more the children play computer or online games, the worse child-parent relations are likely to get, c. The more nurturant parents are, the better child-parent relations are likely to get and the more frequently the children are likely to talk to their parents, d. The more permissive parents are, the more children are likely to think that their parents do not dislike them after they begin to play computer or Internet games, e. The more permissive parents are, the better child-parent relations are likely to get after the children learn how to use a computer or the Internet, f. The younger children who have nurturant parents are likely to talk more frequently to their parents after they learn computer or online games, g. Relations between the male children and nurturant parents are likely to get worse after the children begin to play computer or Internet games, h. Relations between younger students and permissive parents are likely to get better after the children begin to play computer or online games, i. The more permissive parents are, the more male children are likely to think that their parents do not like them after they begin to play computer or Internet games.
