국문 초록

이글은 한국이 낳은 탁월한 주석가이며, 신학자이며, 그리고 목회자였던 정류 이상근 박사의 갈라디아서 주석(1973)과 비교적 최근에 출판된 최갑종의 갈라디아서 주석(2016)을 서로 비교함으로써 정류의 갈라디아서 주석의 탁월함과 함께 몇몇 아쉬운 점을 확인하고, 그렇게 함으로써 갈라디아서를 연구하고 주석하려는 후학들에게 좋은 귀감을 제시하는 데 있다. 잘알려진 대로 정류의 갈라디아서 주석은 그의 신학과 목회의 완숙기인 1973년에 출판되었다. 그의 갈라디아서 주석은 철저한 종교개혁과 복음주의 전통 신학에 뿌리를 두고 있으며, 주석 방법론도 본문에 대한 진보적인 신약성서 비평 방법에 의존하기보다도, 비평 이전의 보수적인 역사적, 문법적, 신학적 방법을 채택하고 있다. 정류의 갈라디아서 주석은 갈라디아교회의 역사적 정황 이해에 관해서도 전통적인 입장을 견지한다. 그것은 바울이 갈라디아를 쓴 이유가 유대주의자들의 등장으로 혼란에 빠져 있는 갈라디아 교회에게 이신칭의의 복음을 재강조하는 신학적, 변증적 목적에 있다는 것이다. 반면에 최갑종은 바울이 갈라디아서를 쓴 주된 목적은 갈라디아교회 안에 갈라디아서 5-6장에 나타나고 있는 여러 가지 육의 문제들이 교회 안에 먼저 일어났고, 거기에 덧붙여 유대주의자들이 등장하여 갈라디아교회가 혼란에 빠뜨렸기 때문에, 이를 대처하기 위해 오직 성령을 따라 복음의 진리대로 살 것을 권면하기 위해서라는 것이다. 아울러 이상근의 주석은 1980년대에 대두된 새 관점 운동과 갈라디아서에 대한 수사학적 접근 이전에 집필되었음으로, 새 관점과 수사학적 접근이 언급되고 있지 않지만, 최갑종의 갈라디아서 주석은 새 관점과 수사학적 접근과 적극적인 대화를 모색하고 있다.

영문 초록

By comparing the Commentary on Galatians (1973) by Jung-Ryu (靜流), Dr. Sang-geun Lee, an outstanding Korean commentator, theologian, and pastor, and the relatively recently published Commentary on Galatians (2016) by Gab-Jong Choi (2016), this article highlights the excellence of Jung- Ryu's commentary as well as some weaknesses. By doing so, the paper aims to present an excellent example to younger scholars who want to study and comment on Galatians. As is well known, Jung-Ryu's commentary on Galatians was published in 1973, when his theology and ministry were fully matured. His Commentary on Galatians is rooted in the thorough Reformation and traditional evangelical theology. His exegetical methodology adopts conservative historical, grammatical, and theological methods prior to criticism rather than relying on the liberal New Testament criticism methods for the text. Jeong-Ryu's commentary on Galatians also maintains a traditional position regarding understanding the Galatia churches' historical context. The reason Paul wrote Galatians was, Jung-Ryu supposes, for the theological and apologetic purposes of re-emphasizing the gospel of justification by faith to the Galatia churches, which were in confusion with the appearance of Judaizers. On the other hand, Choi’s commentary supposes that the primary purpose of Paul's writing of Galatians was that the various problems of the flesh, which are shown in Galatians 5-6, first arose in the churches in Galatia. In addition, Judaizers appeared and threw the Galatians churches into confusion. Therefore, Paul wrote Galatians to encourage the Galatians to live with the gospel's truth by the Holy Spirit, not the false teaching of the Judaizers. In addition, because Jung-Ryu's commentary was written before the new perspective movement and the rhetorical approach to Galatians that emerged in the 1980s, the commentary neither knows the new perspective nor the rhetorical approach. However, Choi's commentary on Galatians reflects an active dialogue with a new perspective and rhetorical approach.
