청년의 죽음 불안 경험에 관한 질적 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 청년의 죽음 불안을 존재와 삶, 문화적 관계 맥락 안에서 이해하기 위한 질적 연구이다. 연구를 위해 2023년 4월에서 2024년 1월에 걸쳐 참여관찰, 심층면담, 현지자료조사를 통해 자료 수집이 이루어졌다. 기존의 죽음 불안 연구들이 주로 노인층을 대상으로 연구한 데 비해 본 연구에서는 청년을 대상으로 하였다. 연구 참여자가 존재론적 불안을 어떻게 경험하고 인식하는지, 기독 신앙의 관계 맥락 안에서 어떠한 죽음 불안 이야기를 형성하는지를 연구 퍼즐로 하였다. 참여자의 죽음 불안 경험을 열어 밝히기 위해 내러티브 탐구의 방법을 활용하였고, 연구 참여자가 살아낸 이야기의 의미적 구성은 다음과 같다. 첫째, ‘발설되지 못한 죽음 불안’, 둘째, ‘삭막한 내면 세계로의 접촉’, 셋째, ‘존재 대 존재의 단절’, 넷째, ‘나를 장악할 자유’이다. 죽음 불안을 발견하고 이해하는 것은 개인에게는 세계 내의 존재로서 살아가는 출발이며 상담 현장과 교회에는 그를 어떻게 다루어야 하는지에 대한 통찰을 줄 것이다.

영문 초록

This study is a qualitative study to understand young adult’ death anxiety within their existential, life, and cultural contexts.. For the study, data were collected through participatory observation, psychological interviews, and field data surveys from April 2023 to January 2024. While the existing death anxiety studies were mainly conducted on the elderly, this study focused on young people. The research puzzle was how the study participants experience and perceive ontological anxiety and what kind of death anxiety stories are formed within the context of the relationship between Christian beliefs. The method of narrative inquiry was used to open and reveal the experience of death anxiety of young person, and the meaningful composition of the story that the study participants survived is as follows. First, it is ‘unexplained death anxiety’, second, ‘contact with the clear inner world’, third, ‘the disconnection of existence versus existence’, and fourth, ‘freedom to take control of me’. Discovering and understanding death anxiety is the beginning of living as a being in the world for an individual, and it will give insight into how to deal with it to counseling sites and churches.
