다문화 정책 참여가 다문화 청소년의 정의적·인지적 학습 능력에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

다문화 가정 청소년을 대상으로 한 다문화 정책은 정서지원, 학습지원, 금전지원의 다양한 형태로 이루어지나 그 효과성에 대한 실증연구는 제한적이다. 본 연구는 다문화 정책 참여의 효과를 알아보기 위하여, 「다문화 청소년 패널조사 1기 (MAPS 1기)」자료의 2012년(초5)에서 2016(중3)까지의 1,295명의 다문화 청소년의 정책 참여가 학습 능력에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 정의적 학습 능력인 학습 태도는 다문화 정책 참여 경험과 양(+)의 관계에 있으며 이는 통계적으로 유의미하였다. 정책 내용별 분석에서는 정서지원 정책이 학습 태도와 양(+)의 관계를 보였으며 이는 통계적으로 유의미하였다. 또한 다문화 정책 참여는 인지적 학습 능력인 학교 성적과 통계적으로의 유의미한 양(+)의 관계를 보였다. 하지만 정책 내용별 분석에서는 통계적으로 유의한 관계가 나타나지 않았다. 즉, 다문화 청소년의 특성을 고려한 문화 체험, 심리 적응 프로그램 등의 정서지원 정책이 정의적 학습 능력인 학습 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 것을 확인할 수 있다. 또한 외국 출신 부모의 한국어 실력, 교사의 지지, 부모의 지지, 또래 지지 등 사회적 지지가 다문화 청소년의 학습 능력 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 다문화 청소년의 사회적 지지 역량을 강화하는 정책적 지원이 필요하다는 것을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

Multicultural policies encompass various forms of emotional, academic, and financial support, but empirical studies on their effectiveness are limited. This study aims to assess the impact of multicultural policies on learning abilities by analyzing data from the “Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study” (MAPS), which tracked 1,295 multicultural adolescents from 2012 to 2016. The results indicate that participation in multicultural policies is positively associated with affective learning abilities, specifically learning attitudes, and this relationship is statistically significant. Analysis by policy content shows that emotional support policies have a positive and statistically significant relationship with learning attitudes. Additionally, participation in multicultural policies has a statistically significant positive relationship with cognitive learning abilities, specifically school grades. However, analysis by policy content did not show statistically significant relationships. This confirms that emotional support policies, such as cultural experiences and psychological adaptation programs, positively influence the learning attitudes of multicultural adolescents. Furthermore, social support, including the Korean language proficiency of foreign-born parents, teacher support, parental support, and peer support, was found to positively impact the learning abilities of multicultural adolescents. This highlights the necessity for policy support that strengthens the social support capacity of multicultural adolescents.
