신라의 中岳과 팔공산 동봉유적

국문 초록

이 글은 신라의 三山·五岳중에서 中岳이었던 公山의 제사지를 살펴본 사례 연구이다. 팔공산의 동봉(1,167m) 정상부에는 기와편을 비롯해 토기와 자기편 등 다량의 유물이 산포해 있다. 이 유물은 대체로 통일신라에서 조선전기까지의 시기에 해당하는 것이었다. 특히, 기와는 종류가 다양하고 시기 폭도 넓어, 건물이 장기간에 걸쳐 수즙되었던 것으로 보인다. 토기와 자기는 酒甁, 소형 잔과 대접 종류가 주를 이룬다. ‘팔공산 동봉 유적’은 山頂의 바위 위에 입지한 巖上유적이다. 동봉 정상부의 기와 건물은 祭儀를 위한 神祠, 주병과 잔 등은 祭器였던 듯이다. 따라서 동봉 유적은 신라의 中岳神祠터로 추정된다. 신라의 중악 제사지는 팔공산 동봉 정상이었을 가능성이 높다. 이 글은 발굴조사가 아니라 지표조사에서 확인한 유물을 토대로 논의를 진행하여, 동봉 유적의 성격을 파악하는 데 한계를 지닌다. 하지만, 현장조사를 통해 구체적인 제사지를 추정한 것에 나름의 의미가 있다고 생각한다. 문헌자료가 부족한 신라의 산악제사에 대한 논의의 진전에 보탬이 되기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

This is a case study that deals with the jesaji in Gongsan(公山), the mountain in the center of Silla among its three mountains and five great mountains(三山五岳). At the east peak(1,167m) of Palgongsan, a large amount of relics including not only roof tiles but earthenware and porcelain pieces are scattered. The relics mostly correspond to from the Unified Silla till early Chosun. And in particular, roof tiles are so diverse and cover many different periods, so it seems that the structures went through repair and roof mending for a long period. And most of the earthenware and porcelain are bottles, small cups, and bowls. ‘Remains in the east peak of Palgongsan’ refer to relics on rock located on the top of the mountain. The tiled-roof structure on the east peak seems to have been the shrine for ancestral rites, and the bottles or cups may have been used as utensils for the rites. Therefore, remains in the east peak may have been the site of jungak sinsa(中岳神祠; the shrine in the central mountain) during Silla. And Silla’s jungak jesaji must have been the east peak of Palgongsan. Since this article develops its discussion based on the relics found from archaeological field research, not from excavation, it has limitations in understanding the characteristics of the remains in the east peak exactly. However, it is still significant as it has found the concrete jesaji presumably through field research.
