필사본 『花郞世紀』로 본 대가야와 신라의 결혼동맹

국문 초록

필사본 『화랑세기』는 대가야와 신라의 결혼동맹, 대가야의 멸망, 대가야의 王室世系, 멸망 이후 대가야 사람들의 동향 등에 대한 내용이 수록되어 있다. 이는 사료가 부족한 대가야사와 관련된 새로운 視覺과 史實을 제시해 준다. 만약, 이 책이 僞書가 아니라면 대가야사 연구의 중요한 사료로 인용되어야 마땅하다. 반대로 朴昌和에 의해 지어진 책이라고 하더라도 대가야사와 관련된 새로운 史實을 제시하고 있으므로, 연구사나 사학사적인 측면에서 의미가 있다. 필사본 『화랑세기』는 진위 여부도 중요하지만, 그와는 별개로 대가야사 연구에 활력을 불어넣어 줄 가능성도 없지 않다. 이러한 시각에서 522년에 체결된 대가야와 신라의 결혼동맹에 대해 기존의 史書와 비교·검토하고, 그를 통해 필사본 『화랑세기』가 제시한 大加耶像을 파악해 보고자 하였다. 522년 대가야의 異腦王과 결혼한 新羅王女는 兩花공주였으며, 그녀의 집안은 외교문제를 담당하였던 진골귀족이었다. 대가야는 백제의 東進이라는 국가적 위기를 타개하기 위해 신라와 결혼동맹을 체결하였다. 하지만, 신라로 하여금 대가야를 附庸國으로 인식토록 하고, 양화공주의 사망과 함께 신라에 복속되고 말았다. 대가야와 신라의 결혼동맹은 대가야가 신라에 의해 멸망당하는 단초를 제공하였다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The manuscript of the historical record “Hwarang Segi(花郞世紀)” records the matrimonial alliance between Daegaya and Silla Kingdom, the fall of Daegaya, the world of Daegaya royal families and trends of the Daegaya people after the collapse. The record offers new viewpoints and historical facts on the history of Daegaya lacking historical data. Unless the book is a counterfeit, its content should be quoted as important data for research on Daegaya. On the contrary, even if the book was written by the historian Park Chang-hwa(朴昌和, 1895~1962), it suggests new historical facts about Daegaya, thus deemed meaningful in the history of research or historical studies. The authenticity of the manuscript “Hwarang Segi” is important, but apart from that, its existence means there is not without a new possibility to invigorate independent research on Daegaya. In that regard, this study compares and reviews existing historical books on the matrimonial alliance established in 522 AD between Daegaya and Silla Kingdom and aims to understand the image of Daegaya suggested in “Hwarang Segi.” The royal woman of Silla Kingdom that married King Inoe(異腦王) of Daegaya in 522 was Princess Yanghwa(兩花), who came from a family of Jingol(眞骨), the kingdom’s second highest-ranking aristocrats in charge of foreign diplomacy. Daegaya formed the matrimonial alliance with Silla in order to resolve a national crisis caused by Baekje Kingdom’s eastward march. But, Daegaya was understood as Silla’s subordinate state and eventually submitted to Silla, following the death of Princess Yanghwa. It can be said that the matrimonial alliance between Daegaya and Silla Kingdom offered the onset of Daegaya’s collapse under Silla Kingdom.
