국문 초록

이민문학에선 이민으로 초래된 심리적 불안과 이로 인한 정체성의 혼란이 중요 변수로 다뤄질 수밖에 없다. 이는 호주 한인문학에서도 예외가 아닌데, 특히 시와 소설의 경우로 나누어 볼 때, 특별한 변별상이 포착되고 있다. 즉 시문학의 경우가 이민지의 단절감과 소외감에서 비롯된 혼종적 정체성의 내면풍경에 초점을 맞추고 있다면 돈오 김이란 걸출한 소설가 1인으로 대변되는 소설문학의 경우는 코스모폴리탄적 주체은닉성을 띰으로써 오히려 정반대의 포즈를 취하고 있다는 것이다. 호주한인의 시문학은 이민에서 비롯된 심리적 공황과 정착의 과정을 호주사회의 특수성에 의탁해 내성적으로 형상화한 것으로 시적 자아의 서정성을 구현하는 시의 본질상, 이민자의 주체적 내면에 초점이 맞춰져 있다. 이처럼 시문학이 주체지향성을 띠는 데 비해 호주문학 속에 깊숙이 뿌리내린 걸출한 작가 돈오 김의 자장 내에 있는 호주한인의 소설문학에선 작가의 정체성이 수면 아래로 가라앉는 코스모폴리탄적 주체은닉성을 띠고 있는데 이는 작가 자신이 객관적 전달수단인 영어로 포장한 작가 분리형의 ‘보편적 테제’를 통해 작가적 영향력을 점진적으로 확대하려고 하기 때문이다. 이렇게 볼 때, 호주 한인문학은 이민문학으로서의 내향성과 경계성이 이민자의 심리적 저변과 장르적 특성, 작가적 창작전략 등과 맞물려 변용·확장된 산물로 보여진다. 일천한 이민사에서 비롯된 호주의 한인문학이 그 초보적 停滯性을 극복하고 발전하기 위해서는 우선 교민사회의 질량적 잠재력이 획기적으로 확충되어야 할 것이다. 그리하여 멀지 않은 장래에, 호주 한인문학도 특색 있는 해외 한인문학의 한 부분으로 우리 문학사의 층위를 심화·확장하는데 기여할 것이다.

영문 초록

In immigration literature, psychological anxiety caused by immigration and confusion of identity resulting from immigration must be treated as important variables. This is no exception to Australian Korean literature, especially when dividing into poetry and novels, a special distinction is being caught. In other words, if the case of poetry literature focuses on the inner landscape of the hybrid identity resulting from immigrated territory’s sense of disconnection and alienation, the case of novel literature, represented by one outstanding novelist named Don’o Kim, has a cosmopolitan subject concealment. It is a fact that you are posing. The poetry literature of Korean Australians is an introverted representation of the psychological panic and settlement process resulting from immigration, depending on the specificity of Australian society. While poetry has a subject-oriented nature, in the novel literature of Korean Australians in the magnetic field of Don’o Kim, an outstanding writer deeply rooted in Australian literature, the author’s identity has a cosmopolitan identity hidden under the water. This is because he tries to gradually expand the influence of the artist through the ‘universal thesis’ of the artist’s separate type wrapped in English, which is an objective means of communication. In this way, Australian Korean literature can be seen as a product of transformation and expansion in conjunction with immigrants’ psychological base, genre characteristics, and writer’s creative strategy, as immigrant literature’s introversion and boundary. In order for Australian Korean literature to develop and overcome its rudimentary qualities, the mass potential of Korean society must be remarkably expanded. Thus, in the not too distant future, Australian Korean Literature will also contribute to deepening and expanding the level of Korean literature as a part of its distinctive overseas Korean Literature.
