국문 초록

이 연구는 “왜 같은 여성들이 (자신들도 피해자가 될 수 있는) 온라인 성희롱·성폭력 범죄 피해자를 비난하는가?”라는 주제를 탐구하였다. 이를 위해 피해자 비난 연구의 주된 변인중 하나인 공정세상신념의 영향을 검증하였고, 개인이 지각하는 온라인 속 여성혐오 심각성인식과 여성혐오 표현 노출 정도에 따라 유의미한 인식변화가 나타나는지를 확인하였다. 분석을 위해 국가인권위원회에서 여성들을 대상으로 2018년에 수행한 ‘온라인 성희롱·성폭력및 여성혐오 실태조사’ 데이터를 활용하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 공정세상신념이 피해자 비난태도에 미치는 영향에서 온라인 여성혐오 심각성 인식의 부분매개효과를 확인하였다. 둘째, 공정세상신념의 온라인 여성혐오 심각성 인식에 온라인 여성혐오 표현의 노출정도에 따른 조절효과를 확인하였다. 마지막으로, 공정세상신념→온라인 여성혐오 심각성 인식→피해자 비난태도로 이어지는 매개경로의 효과는 온라인 여성혐오 표현 노출정도에 의해 조절되는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 이 경로에서 존슨네이만 분석 및 부트스트랩 결과, 여성혐오 표현 노출정도가 높은 집단의 경우 간접효과가 유의하지 않은 것을 확인하였다. 이는 간접적으로 온라인 여성혐오 표현 노출정도의 둔감화(desensitization) 효과로 해석할 수 있다. 이러한 분석결과를 토대로 온라인 속 혐오표현에대한 대책의 필요성을 시사하였다.

영문 초록

A study was conducted regarding the question, “Why do the same women (even though they can be victims) blame victims of online sexual harassment and violence?”. To this end, this study examined the effect of 'belief in a just world', one of the main variables in the victim accusation study. The results of this study revealed that perceptions of female hatred online are significantly influenced by the degree to which an individual is exposed to female hatred expressions. In this study, data from the ‘Online Sexual Harassment, Sexual Violence, and Female Hatred Survey’ conducted by the National Human Rights Commission of Korea was analyzed. First, the partial mediating effect of the online female hatred seriousness perception was confirmed in relation to the effect of belief in a just world on the attitude of criticism toward the victim. The second finding confirmed that the level of exposure to online female hate expression affects the perception of the seriousness of online female hatred in a just world belief system. Moreover, it was found that the level of exposure to online female hatred expression regulated the mediating path of belief in a just world * recognition of the seriousness of online female hatred * criticism attitude toward the victim. Specifically, Johnson-Neyman analysis and BootStrap in this pathway confirmed that indirect effects were not significant for groups exposed to high levels of female hatred expression. Indirectly, this could be interpreted as the effect of desensitization of female exposure to hatred expression online. This study concluded that countermeasures against hate speech on the Internet need to be taken.
