수학 문제 유형에 따른 초등학생들의 수학적 표현 분석

국문 초록

수학적 표현은 수학적인 생각을 구체화하고 의사소통하는 기능을 가지고 있으며, 수학문제해결에서도 중요한 역할을 하기 때문에 문제 유형에 따라 학생들이 주로 이용하는 수학적 표현 양식을 확인할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 정형화된 문제와 비정형화된 문제로 구성된 질문지를 이용하여 초등학생들의 수학적 표현을 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 정형화된 문제의 평균 정답률이 비정형화된 문제의 평균 정답률보다 높았으며, 정형화된 문제에서는 정답자 대부분이 수식 표현을 이용하였고, 시각적 표현을 시도한 경우가 적었을 뿐만 아니라 그 경우에도 모두 오답이었다. 이에 비해 비정형화된 문제에서는 시각적 표현과 언어 표현을 이용한 사례가 다수 나타났다. 연구 대상자들이 이용한 시각적 표현에서는 관계 그림을 이용하여 답을 한 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 문제해결에 다양한 표현 양식을 활용하도록 지도하고, 문제와 수학적 표현 유형에 따른 문제해결 지도 방안을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Because mathematical representation has the functions of embodying the mathematical thoughts and communicating and plays an important role in mathematical problem solving, it is necessary to identify the types of mathematical representations mainly used by students according to the different types of problems. In this study, mathematical representations of elementary school students were analyzed using questionnaire composed of routine and non-routine problems. As a result of the study, the routine problem was higher than the non-routine problem in the average correct rate and most of the correct answers used numerical expression in routine problems. On the other hand, the number of cases using visual representation and language in non-routine problems was high that of routine problems. In the visual expression used by the subjects, it was found that the answer was given using the spatial pictures. Through results, it was suggested to guide the use of various expressions in mathematical problem solving, and to pay attention to teaching methods for problem solving according to the types of the problems and the mathematical expressions.
