선문대학교 교양과목 <말하기와 글쓰기>의 현황

국문 초록

선문대학교에서는 2012년 1학기부터 <말하기와 글쓰기> 강좌를 신입생 전원이 한 학기동안 이수해야 하는 교양 필수과목으로 결정했다. 이러한 결정은 대단히 의미 있고, 시사하는 바가 크다. 현재 <말하기와 글쓰기> 과목은 과거의 고정적인 이미지에서 탈피하여 그 위상과 역할에도 큰 변화가 이루어졌다. 이에 본고는 선문대학교의 교양과목인 <말하기와 글쓰기>의 교육현황을 살피고, 전망하여 그 위상과 역할을 설명하고자 한다. 선문대학교 <말하기와 글쓰기> 과목은 전반적인 말하기와 쓰기를 체계적으로 훈련함으로써 종합적인 의사소통 기반을 함양시키는 것을 중심 목표로 하고 있다. 이는 전공학문과 연계뿐만 아니라 취업 후 사회활동에도 도움이 될 수 있도록 교육하고 있다. 그러나 목표와 방법, 시스템 등이 다소 원활하지 못한 것은 인정해야 할 부분이다. 이에 선문대학교 교양대학에서는 <말하기와 글쓰기>를 혁신(革新)하고자 노력하고 있다. 또한 <말하기와 글쓰기> 과목은 많은 해결책이 제시되어야 할 필요가 있다. 이제는 교수자가 아닌 학습자 중심으로 목표를 설정하고 강의실의 규모와 강의 방식을 쇄신(刷新)할 필요가 있다. 아울러 우수 교수진을 적극 확보하여야 하며, 가능한 소수(少數)의 학생들로 <말하기와 글쓰기> 수업을 구성해야 한다. 또한 글쓰기의 피드백과 관련된 기구를 설치하고, 다양한 프로그램을 계발하여 과목의 교육적 효과를 높여야 할 것으로 보인다. 또한 교수진의 안정적인 신분보장과 재정지원을 통해 우수 인력 선발 및 연구에 도움을 주어야 한다. 아울러 타 학교의 선진교육시스템을 도입하여 제도화하는 것이 앞으로 말하기와 글쓰기 과목의 성공과 가치를 극대화 하는 하나의 방안인 것이다. 덧붙여 <말하기와 글쓰기>의 수강생들에게는 여러 가지 학습 환경적 요인을 개선하여 학습에 대한 의욕과 수업에 적극적인 참여를 할 수 있는 기회를 주어야 한다. 그리하여 학습자 중심의 수업을 이끌어 가도록 돕는 것이 시급하다.

영문 초록

Sunmoon University has taken “Speaking and Writing” as required courses for liberal arts credits which all the freshmen have to take for one semester since first semester 2012. It has a great deal of meaning and suggests many things. Presently, “Speaking and Writing” has been out of past fixed image. And its status and role have been also changed quite a lot. So, this dissertation reviews the present status of educating “Speaking and Writing” at Sunmoon University and describes its status and roles with prospect. “Speaking and Writing” at Sunmoon University targets to train entire system of speaking and writing and improve comprehensive communication base. It also educates to support social activities after graduation as well as link to majors. However, it should be recognized that it is not that efficient in terms of targets, methods, systems, etc. somehow. Therefore, liberal arts school at Sunmoon University tries to innovate “Speaking and Writing”. In addition, the education on Speaking and Writing requires many solutions. Targets should be made considering the sides of leaners rather than educators. The size of classroom and ways to give classes need to be improved. At the same time, excellent professors need to be secured. “Speaking and Writing” has to be comprised of students as small number as possible. In addition, equipments related to writing feedback needs to be installed. Diverse programs need to be developed in order to promote education effect. Besides, securing stable status and financial support might help to hire superior professors and support their studies. Futhermore, to adopt advanced education system from other schools and systemize it can be a way to maximize success and value of “Speaking and Writing” in near future. Also, it is pressing matter that motives and participation should be brought to class by improving diverse study environment factors to students in “Speaking and Writing” class. Again, chances and motives need to be brought to make them participate in class actively so as to make learners-oriented classes finally.
