국문 초록

본 연구는 수도권으로 집중하는 원인을 개인들을 대상으로 매년 반복적으로 조사한 패널데이터를 사용하여, 본인의 이동에 따른 경제적 효과가 자녀 세대로의 세대 간 이동성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 관하여 다양한 측면에서 살펴보는 것을 연구의 목적으로 한다. 경제력의 세대 간 이동성을 살펴본 결과, 부모의 수도권으로 이동 결정은 부모의 경제력에 영향을 미치고, 그 결과 수도권으로 이동한 부모의 자녀와 그렇지 않는 부모의 자녀 간의 교육기회 및 경제력에 상당한 영향을 끼치는 것으로 분석되었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the economic inter-generational mobility of migration to the metropolitan area. In this study, people who moved to the Seoul Metropolitan Area (SMA) after being born and raised outside the SMA were distinguished from the people who had not made a move. In this study, the economic differences between the two selected groups were analyzed using the Korean Labor & Income Panel Study (KLIPS). In addition, the inter-generational mobility of economic powers of the two groups were investigated to understand how the geographical relocation of individuals into the metropolitan area affects the intra-generational mobility which in turn impacts on inter-generational mobility. The result showed that the children of parents who moved to the SMA are likely to have better educational and economic opportunities and achievements. This empirical finding indicated that a variety of opportunities given to the children s generation could be associated with the geographical relocation of the parents generation.
