영문 초록

The mutagenicity of sodium azide in rice was examined, using the method of treatment similar to the one employed in barley seed. Unlike the results in barley, mutation rate was very low, about two per cent per 100 panicles (albino plus xantha). Presoaking of seed in water produced no particular effect in mutation rate. Segregation ratio of albino mutants in M₂ was 0.09, much lower as cempared with other alkylating agents (0.14-0.17). There were no noticeable reduction in seedling height and fertility in M₁.
