영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the present situation of English education in Junior Colleges of Korea, and to propose a way to improve it. Almost all Junior Colleges in Korea have not adequately achieved their goals, whatever they may be, in teaching and learning English due to failure in developing effectively organized curriculum, carefully prepared reading materials, satisfactory educational facilities, effective classroom techniques and procedure, etc. This paper deals briefly with what and how we should do in the area of teaching English in Junior College, proposes the following suggestions to improve students’ good command of English. (1) A positive attitude in the rapidly changing world situation (2) Establishment of up-to-date tools and materials for teaching practice and practical English. (3) Reorganization of curricula and school courses. (4) Development of various kinds of educational programs. (5) Extension of a higher level of quality instruction with additional new instructors and native speakers.
