영문 초록

The subject of the study is a new phenomenon in Russian ergonymy (company name manifold). The article has deal mainly with surnames of the characters of Russian classical literature and surnames of Russian writers and poets, used as a name of restaurant or café. In this case the attractive function of the restaurant name is realized as a reference to background knowledge of language bearer. Ten groups of ergonyms are established (in the corpus of 99 restaurant names) according to the figures of ten Russian authors of XIX century: Pushkin (32 ergonyms), Gogol (29), Chekhov (10), Lermontov (6), Ostrovsky (6), Goncharov (5), Dostoevsky (4), Turgenev (3), Griboedov (2), Tolstoy (2). The core of the corpus becomes the name of Onegin, which contains 18% ergonyms. Onegin is the title character of the a novel in verse written by Alexander Pushkin, most famous Russian poet, the creator of classic Russian literature. Thus this character is becoming the quintessence of the spirit of Russian classics, whereas world famous figures of Dostoevsky and Tolstoy are marginal in this ergonymic sphere. The using of the surname of fiction character for restaurant name is understood as a result of transonymisation, a process of transition of a proper name from one onymic category to other. The transonymisation name of the character/writer > name of the restaurant is contrary to the traditional for Russian culture opposition “spiritual-material”, because it rises the material aspect of the culture to a spiritual level.
