영문 초록

Study on the unique form and decorative techniques of the clothing in GoChosun era has been performed on the basis of documents and research materials of archaeologists. As a result, the assertions that Korea’s fashion of old times originated from the Chinese garment system and the Northern Part is incorrect. It was also confirmed that the view that the Koreans from ancient times enjoyed wearing white clothing is not true. The shirts and jackets that people in GoChosun used to wear along with their decorative hats have been found to be diversely decorated as well. Shirt, jacket, and pants are mostly made by bast fiber fabric, silk fabric, wool, leather, fur, and etc. The designs projected various exuberant ambiences by attaching different materials such as bone, horn, jade, bronze, metal, gold, silver, and etc. It can be said that the beauty of GoChosun’s style in shirts, pants, and jacket is expressed variously in their aesthetic sense through compromised harmony of the development in dyeing, decoration, and weaving techniques. Especially, decoration techniques using jade and bronze materials are bold and dynamic, thus, show well of the molding images. GoChosun’s fashion culture is featured of its precedent and outstanding technique in weaving and dyeing of fabric. Besides, its decoration technique is qualitatively superior, and its style is very creative.
