영문 초록

Mission in th e Old Testament is defined as various aspects by scholars. Firstly, there is an attempt to find out a concept of the centrifugal mission in the OT. Because Judaism was nor a religion which cried to get a proselyte, it is difficult to trace our the mis sion of centrifugal idea from th e OT in t he light of New Testament notion. Isa, 42: I and 49:6, etc. are dealt as th e foundation for th e centrifugal mission . But an ultimate purpose of these text s is to gather all nation s to th e holy Zion of Israel, th ere is no evidence which Israelite actually carried our such mission enterprise. Secondly, in th e OT th ere are examples of th ecentripetal mission which accepted alien int o th e assembly of Israelite. This is Jewish -centered concept ethnically and Jerusalem-centered concept geographically in order to stress on th e worship of Yahweh the God. Thirdly, the re is an attempt to understand th e mission from t he election of Israel. Mission is supposed to be closely related with self-identification of Israel which Israelite was elected as th e kingdom of pries t to serve th e world. Fourthly, th ere IS an aspect to explain t he mission of the OT in th e light of universality of God 's elect ion and salvation. Var ious text s, which is testifying th at God' s call for Abraham was for th e blessing of all nations, the whole world and humanity are the objects of God's love and salvation, are foundation for the universal mission. Final method is to understand the mission in the OT in the perspective of God’5 mission. This is the wholistic understanding for the mission in the OT. As the OT is the book which God reveals Himself and gets to know who God is, mission can be identified with salvific works which God Himself carried on through the people of Israel.
