국문 초록

1971년-2001년을 대상으로 우리 경제, 전체 산업 및 8개 주요 산업별 성장에 대한 은행, 주식, 채권 및 증권 시장중개발전도의 역할에 관한 회귀분석을 위주로 한 실증분석 주요결과에 의하면 ① 광업, 제조업, 도·소매·숙박·음식업, 운수·창고·통신업, 금융·보혐·부동산·임대 및 사업서비스업의 성장률에 대해서 증권시장중개발전도가 정의 연관성을 보이고 있고 ② 제조업, 도·소매·숙박·음식업, 금융·보혐·부동산·임대 및 사업서비스업의 성장률에 대해서 채권시장중개발전도가 정의 연관성을 보이고 있다. ③ 그 연관성의 크기는 채권시장중개발전도>증권시장중개발전도의 순서로 나타났다. ④ 그러나, 광업, 제조업, 금융·보혐·부동산·임대 및 사업서비스업(넓게는 운수·창고·통신업 포함)의 성장에 대해서 은행중개발전도는 부의 관련성을 가진 것으로 나타났다. ⑤ 한편, 중추산업인 제조업이나 '고성장산업(제조업, 운수·창고·통신업, 금융·보혐·부동산·임대 및 사업서비스업의 3대 산업)'의 경우, 증시중개발전도가, 은행중개발전도의 부의 연관성을 뛰어 넘는, 정의 연관성을 보임으로써, ⑥ 향후 우리 경제나 산업 전체뿐만 아니라 주요 근간인 제조업 및 '고성장산업'의 육성을 위한 전략적 금융지원에서도 시장중심금융체제(market-oriented financial system)가 은행중심금융체제(bank-oriented financial system)보다 더 바람직함을 시사하고 있다. 핵심 주세어 : 은행중심금융, 시장중심금융, 금융체계, 금융중개발전도 주제분류 : E44

영문 초록

A comparative investigation of the relationship between financial system and industrial economic growth is performed by using empirical data between 1971 and 2001 in 8 key Korean industrial sectors. The result shows that the securities market is positively related to the industrial economic growth in 5 (of 8) industriaL sectors (1. Mining and quarrying. 2. Manufacturing. 3. Wholesale and retail trade. restaurants and hotels, 4. Transport. storage and communication, and 5. Finance. insurance. real estate, business services), in which bank intermediation provides no positive influence on the industrial economic growth. In particular, the investigation finds that the securities market plays a positive role in the growth of manufacturing industry as well as 'high -growth industries'. From this one can hypothesize that the market-oriented financial system plays a more efficient role than the bank-oriented financial system does, in the growth of industries, including the Manufacturing and the strategic 'high-growth industries' of the future Korean economy.
